I have the Cassin X Dry tools and I don't think it is a good idea to use the upper grip, unless You have really good placement.
First tools I was started matching hands on was the original Quark with a second grip added. The author you have sent a link to pretty much covered it I think, with "I was really pumped and not climbing in control."
