Did I read that right? Killian's threshold heart rate is 190? Well no wonder he runs up mountains.

I believe so. Killian lists his numbers as a V02 Max of between 88 and 92, Max HR 205 with a resting HR of 34. LTH for a 1.5 to 3 hr run as 190 BPM. The LTH or working heart rate is impressive @ 190.

Max and resting are set by your genome but can be manipulated some by your fitness.

Armstrong's numbers (FWTW now) were
83.8 VO2 Max, 201 MHR and a 32 for RHR. LeMond had a VO2 max of 92.4 and Indurian of 92/94. BIG engines/lungs in all of them.

Obviously none of these guys are the norm! Average VO2 max in a fit male is between 50/60.
