Dane, I have a question about the Blue Ice pack compression straps. It looks like they are continuous straps all the way around the back (tool side)with a buckle in the middle. If that's the case, do you lose compression if you unclip the buckle to remove a tool? Similarly, if you loosen the compression straps or remove gear from the pack, do your tools become loose? Thanks, Bill
Sorry I missed this. The compression straps are hooked on the sides. They also have a fastex buckle on the mid point to cinch down or let out as required or the straps can be removed all together.
No worries on tools or gear compression as long as you do your part and tighten the straps up when done. Pretty simple system really. Easy to strip down and drop soem weight as well on a lwt weight pack to start with. Back lenght runs aroudn 17" on both the 30l and 40l.

Hi Dane,
Can we still get the Blue Ice Boa's from you?
sorry no, the BI version changed design. Try the Grivel version.
