"The Alaskan Way Explores Risk and Reward in Avalanche Terrain" TELLURIDE, CO (Nov. 7, 2013) - The Alaskan Way, a 59 minute documentary film about the risks and rewards of Heli Ski guiding in Haines, Ak. is now available online on vimeo.com for free starting today 11/15/13 at
this link:Â https://vimeo.com/44486546 Â The subject of an article in the NY TIMES last spring, The Alaskan Way is a story behind a story:
 http://www.nytimes.com/2013/03/06/sports/skiing/grieving-families-of-extreme-sports-enthusiasts-are-left-to-wonder-was-the-thrill-worth-it.html?_r=0

During the filming of The Alaskan Way a great tragedy occurred that  nearly kept the film from ever being made and distributed. Â Alaska Heliskiing Heli ski guide and avalanche forecaster Rob Liberman and client Nick DoDov perished in an avalanche on 3/13/12. Â This film's purpose is to expose viewers to the circumstances discovered by a team of professional heli ski guides operating in the consequential environment of big mountain Alaskan terrain. Â Despite extensive training to ensure safety in the mountains the guides met a situation where all efforts still resulted in the loss of two lives and one lesson learned: The best can still have a bad day.

Viewers of the film can support avalanche awareness and education with a donation of $5 or more to the tip jar feature on the videos webpage. 10% of profits will be donated to Avalanche Education initiatives chosen by The Alaskan Way TV LLC including AIARE, The Nickolay Dodov foundation and The San Juan Field school in Telluride, Co. Please help us remember Rob Liberman, Nick Dodov and the valliant efforts of thier colleagues and friends. Please introduce your friends, families and fellow powder skiers to the lifestyle that for a brief moment in time was captured and asks viewers to weigh the decisions made when committing to the pursuit of deep passion for deep powder.

Rob was incidentally responsible for me buying a pair of DPS skis. He talked them up to a friend who then passed them on to me. They sure are fun and I wish I could afford a set of the Pure's. Thanks Rob!

The film is basically an infomercial for Alaskan Heliskiing.

Not a very good recommendation for the place if the Operations Avalanche Forcaster and a client both die. Guess everyone takes something different away from the film.
