How many of your hoods fit over a helmet? In Steve House's book, neither he nor Vince Anderson are ever pictured with a DAS hood over a helmet. Either the photo shows an uncovered helmet, or the if the hood is up, there is no helmet underdeath. Did the DAS of 2005 have a hood that was too small to fit over a helmet? Have you ever wished that your parkas had bigger hoods?NotMessnernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6940163880772720830.post-84400486080938253522012-01-31T22:44:41.641-08:002012-01-31T22:44:41.641-08:00Hi James, for the last three winters I used a Lg A...Hi James, for the last three winters I used a Lg Atom LT. I found the XL LT just too roomy. I use a XL SV to go over that. In th past 5 months I lost 50lbs that are so far staying off. I thought the combo might not work at this weight but they are fine...XL is getting big in the SV, The Lg is fine still in the LT. But rather have them too big than too small if I have to make that decision.

I use the Atom LT like a shirt or sweater not as a jacket because of the stretch vents on the sides that are not wind proof. Only a R1 going under mine generally. So you'll need to figure out how you want to use yours. My suggestion is get a Med. and use it like a sweater with little under it.Danehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08300760603627210620noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6940163880772720830.post-69098914838624059942012-01-31T21:03:53.508-08:002012-01-31T21:03:53.508-08:00Dane, I've finally decided to invest in an Ato...Dane, I've finally decided to invest in an Atom LT after significant recommendation from you and a year-long lust. Do you wear XL in that like everything else, or do you size up? I'm a medium in everything I wear, but if it's as fitted as I hear, I might want to size up. What do you think?Jameshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14228564825123601389noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6940163880772720830.post-58810805109200504522012-01-30T19:41:04.552-08:002012-01-30T19:41:04.552-08:0060g weights are easy to find without a hood. The Atom LT comes without a hood as well as do others.

In the "layered picture" only one layer, the bright gree Nano puff is without a hood. When it is cold out a helmet doesn't offer much warmth imo and I typically don't sleep in my helmet...so more hoods, more better generally for me. Two hoods under those layers as well in the RI and a wool base layer plus my knit hat.Danehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08300760603627210620noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6940163880772720830.post-86473145119138138822012-01-30T19:22:24.216-08:002012-01-30T19:22:24.216-08:00Do all the 60/100/60 and 60 layers have hoods? Since the helmet adds a lot of insulation you wouldn’t have without it, it seems do-able that one or more of the layers could be a jacket without a hood.NotMessnernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6940163880772720830.post-81303730448873065352012-01-30T06:07:00.073-08:002012-01-30T06:07:00.073-08:00I'm super impressed with the difference betwee...I'm super impressed with the difference between 60g Coreloft and 100g Coreloft. The difference between an Atom LT and an Atom SV is night and day.
